Upcoming Projects:
The Still Hour
This is a new screenplay written by David Giardina. He wrote, directed and produced the feature film "Taffy Was Born" that I was in a few years back.
This is based on actual events that happened in the 1850's.
The main characters that I am reading are Mrs. Kirk and Hannah (complete with Irish Brogue).
Information below: This is a free event.

MTWorks 2012 National Newborn Festival

Okay confession time - ever since I started in this business I have purposely stayed away from doing Shakespeare or anything even remotely in iambic pentameter. Many times people have told me that there were many Shakespearian roles for me but I didn't even try to apply for them because of my phobia to all things "iambic pentameter". Late last year I decided to see if I could overcome this "issue" and took a class from the wonderful Andrew Hurley who not only demystified it for me but actually said that I was actually pretty good once I got the hang of it.
Well I got to put my new found ability to the test in Duncan Pflaster's wonderful new piece "The Tragedy of Dandelion". which is written entirely in iambic pentameter. I played the roles of Queen Alice, Beard and Mead. Yup another Queen to add to my roster of royalty and I did get to wear a crown.
We won audience favorite out of all of the plays that were read during the festival.
Really had a blast doing this and hope that I get to do it again in the near future.

3rd Anual Instant Theater (F.A.C.T.)

On January 8, 2012 I made my directorial debut as part of F.A.C.T.'s Instant Theatre.
Over the space of one weekend 18 Actors, 6 Directors and 6 Playwrights come together and within 48 hrs write, rehearse and stage 6 10-minute plays.
I was so luky - not only did I get a wonderful piece by William Kozy to to work with (Ms. Turdly Rix) but three great actors who are also very good friends.
Stephanie Schwartz - played Madam a choir director who is famous for teaching directing but all of a sudden after the untimely death of the regular choir director actually has to really direct.
Gus Ferrari - as Enrico an Italian singer who brings and Operatic flair to modern pop standards.
and
Jillian Roppolo - who played Trudy - the well meaning eager young member who even though she lost her glasses tried to dicern for her fellow choir members the lyrics of the upcoming repertoir by listening to the songs via YouTube. Leading to some very interesting renditions of such classics as Bohemian Rhapsody, Billie Jean, Addicted to Love and Blinded By The Light.
I really had such fun directing this and was so proud of my cast. The audience really seemed to like it as well.
So for my first outing as a director I could not have had a better experience. So yes - I will do it again.

The Orange Person

I so enjoyed playing the role of Aunt Joan in a recent production of The Orange Person at the Gene Frankel Theater. This one will dfinitly go down as one of my all time favorite roles
I had a couple of really nice reviews. For the whole review please click the link.
"Madalyn McKay delivers the crowd pleaser “Pumpkin Pie” as hot and fresh as the song’s namesake" - Michael Civello - The American Shot
"..a sweet southern nana sells her orange skinned son with a soulful hip shaking number which had the audience cheering." - The Paper Swan
Though I think my favorite came from my director Jeremy Bloom: "You were awesome!!!!!"
